For a couple of weeks more so we can show you our latest bridal portrait shoot! We had a great location and also managed to catch some great light (and clouds), and just had an awesome time. Here’s a sneak preview…

mist Photography had an incredible opportunity to be part of probably one of the largest Nigerian festivities in the Dallas area - and if it wasn’t, it sure felt that way! Upon stepping into the church for the ceremonies, we almost felt transported to that mysterious continent, as Nigerian garb was likely more common than Western (and we mean this in the general sense, not just the typical cowboy sense) attire. Here’s a few previews of some of our favorite images from their special day.

Now we encounter a lot of guests with cameras at our weddings, but we can honestly say that we’ve never seen the papparazzi atmosphere we witnessed here…this is a shot of the guests DURING that kiss shot above…can you find the two members of the mist team trying to get a shot during all the chaos?!?
By the way, the formals were taken with an even bigger gallery than what you can see above…but we all just teamed up and still got the shots! Here’s a classic shot of Jennifer and Ike
And we couldn’t resist doing our signature mist lighting style with the great architecture and blue skies
The reception was full of traditions, down to a very formal agenda and the traditional speeches…however, there was also time for some dancing and the traditional attire was just so colorful!
They even had a money dance, where the guests were literally throwing money at them…but Ike was focused only on Jen!
And finally, the happy couple runs off to their new life as Mr. and Mrs!

We saw this old pitchfork on the ground and we just HAD to recreate American Gothic!
Although these guys are Aggies and are showing off their Aggie Rings, this same shot could be done with other college rings, or any other rings that has special significance (service academy rings, promise rings, religious rings, etc).

Julie and Jeff, thanks so much for hanging out with us and having fun. The wedding is coming up so soon - we can’t wait!
Stacy is in Houston this weekend for a string of engagement and bridal sessions for our Houston clients, but she had a little down time so she was able to edit one or two photos from one of Saturday’s sessions. Laci is Stacy’s friend from college, so it was so great to be able to spend some time with her and her fiance Josh. Laci’s uptown Houston apartment is absolutely adorable, so we can only imagine how beautiful their small-town Hereford, TX wedding will be!
Laci totally made our job easy and found some really cool locations for us to shoot at. Here are some of our favorite photos from the session!
First up was this gorgeous tree-lined street.. Wouldn’t this make a PERFECT canvas for their wall? It would look so good in black and white or sepia, too, especially with the texture!
Next we headed to a really cool law office built in an old-world Mediterranean style.
This photo is SO Laci and Josh, to us.. They are just fun, happy people in love!
An engagement session just isn’t complete without a little dancing!
We saw a bridal shop across the street - and, conveniently enough, the most beautiful wedding dress Stacy has ever seen in her entire life, and she has seen a LOT of dresses. We think Laci liked it, too
Finally we headed back to their apartment complex, where there was a cute little courtyard with some great backdrops.

Last but not least, we drove up to the roof of their parking garage to take advantage of the awesome view of downtown Houston.
Laci and Josh, thanks for the yummy breakfast, braving the gross weather, and showing us another side of downtown Houston. You guys are awesome!
…and some images really don’t need too many words to describe them! We were definitely excited about this wedding - we’ve always used the tagline “Photography is Art” since that was our approach to photography so shooting at THE Dallas Museum of Art was going to be so appropriate! Ashley and Jeremy’s wedding just had it all - the amazing location, great weather, and a couple who just seemed to just enjoy the day and loved to express themselves! Just a few previews as we work on the rest of their images…

However, there was one image that we had to save for last - this was Ashley and Jeremy during their first dance as all the little kids looked on. This one just took our breath away…

What a beautiful couple! We at mist Photography are so happy that Tuyen and Khoa came to us to cover their wedding which is coming up in June. We were also lucky enough to have a separate portrait session of the couple in their wedding attire. This allowed us to capture a variery of shots - from the romantic, serious, to just plain ol’ fun!
Look at Tuyen’s gorgeous dress and veil. That veil was actually made by her friend - she really did a fantastic job with it!

Every couple shows love in a different way.. Some have special looks or signals that only they understand, some hold hands and share the occasional kiss, some prefer to keep their affection completely hidden from the outside world.. Then there’s Drew and Sarah. These two are not afraid to show the world their love for one other.. They are always kissing, hugging, rubbing each other’s back, laying a hand gently on the other’s shoulder, sharing a knowing smile across the room.. Their love is so evident and genuine, it is truly amazing to everyone who watches them.
Drew and Sarah got married at the beautiful Quail Ridge Ranch in Glen Rose, TX, which was one of the most photogenic locations we have ever shot at. We have seen some amazing ballrooms and venues, but Quail Ridge was so relaxed and homey, the weather was perfect, the natural surroundings were idyllic..

Two groomsmen and a bridesmaid sang a really neat version of Amazing Grace called “Grace Flows Down” for the ceremony. It was beautiful!
Look at how choked up Drew is to see his wife-to-be coming down the aisle towards him. We knew he was going to be a wreck when he started tearing up earlier that day as they were testing the ceremony music.. We know this is a moment that Drew and Sarah will cherish for the rest of their lives.
One thing we LOVED about Quail Ridge is that there was a little walkway that a photographer could hide in and take photos of the bride and groom from the front without being seen much. Thanks to that, Jason H. got this incredible shot of Sarah and Drew praying together during the ceremony. 
Mr. and Mrs. Jones.. Could the light BE any more perfect? We think not.

We all joked that this shot makes them look like they are in Africa, which might be where they are honeymooning.. It was a big secret, only Drew and his parents know for sure!
The reception area.. For all you photographers out there, the new beta version of Lightroom allows for selective exposure adjustment (dodging/burning), so we were able to expose this photo for the sky and then bring everything in the foreground up in Lightroom - no Photoshop necessary. Awesome!

There are so, so, SO MANY amazing photos from this wedding, you just have to watch the slideshow to see them all. It takes a minute or two to load, but it is beyond worth it!!

If you need some convincing that you should see each other BEFORE the wedding.. Here you go:
All of these amazing images were taken BEFORE Jena and Justin’s ceremony. If they had not taken the risk and abandoned the tradition of waiting to see each other, there is no way we could have gotten all these gorgeous images. Otherwise we would have left the guests waiting for hours! Not to mention that their wedding ceremony was fairly late in the day, so there was very little time left between the end of the ceremony and sundown. Jena is a fellow wedding photographer, and she understands the importance of leaving plenty of time and light for photos.
Here is an example of how a First Look happens…
We find a nice, secluded area and then we step aside to give the couple plenty of space. Then we have the bride walk in, and let the groom turn around to see her for the first time. Why is this so great? Well, for starters, we get to pick the location, the lighting, and the time, resulting in beautiful photos and a special, private moment. Many churches force us to shoot from the balcony or won’t even allow us to shoot the ceremony at all, and even lenient locations are restricted with shooting because we don’t want to interrupt the ceremony, so if you want a great shot of your fiance seeing you in your dress for the first time, often the First Look is the best way to get it.
Okay, enough lecturing about the First Look. On to the important stuff!
Jena and Justin have been together since they were in high school, so she has had plenty of time to plan out her dream day! In addition to being a talented wedding photographer, Jena is also extremely crafty and creative, and her DIY decor was as inspired as most of the professionally planned decor we have seen. Can you guess from this collage what her wedding colors and fabric pattern were?
We were on lime green and gingham overload - it was adorable! Jena put so much thought into every aspect of her wedding, and it truly showed. From the decorations to the photography to the many little “secrets” she had planned for Justin throughout the day to the music they played, everything reflected Jena and Justin’s personality and relationship.
We are trying something different for this blog post.. We are only posting the posed group and couple shots. If you want to see the candids of the preparation, ceremony, and reception, you will have to wait for a slideshow later this week!

Jena and Justin - you two are among the friendliest, most welcoming people we have ever met. Your love for each other is so genuine and true that it just radiates outward. We are so honored to not only call you clients, but very close friends, as well!
Ms. Sarah Baker is now Mrs. Sarah Jones and the Joneses are off for two weeks of honeymooning in a top secret location, so we can finally show off her gorgeous bridals at the ever-popular canals in Las Colinas.
Now that we have met Sarah’s sisters, we can see where she gets her amazing modeling ability from.. All of her sisters are gorgeous and are amazing posers - every time we pointed a camera at any of them at the wedding, they struck the fiercest poses! It was great!
